Good Show

20 01 2008

Well I decided to go to the George Strait concert basically just because we had good seats. Like I said before I’m not a fan of country music, but I had a good time. Little Big Town opened for George and they were pretty good. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Can’t wait for these games later today.

No monster trucks?!

Oh well, good seats would probably do it for me as well.

I could have tickets on the inside of George Straight’s ridiculously large hat….and I still wouldn’t go to a country concert.

Hey Phil… While on the topic of entertainment, do you game? If so, what games do you play?

watch ahmad bradshaw today.
He is going to be HUGE. a question for everyone though (including phil)
If the giants win today and beat the patriots in the superbowl to end the undefeated season…would they be looked at as the greatest sports story in New York history? Kind of a random question but these things get me going. Memo to the cheeseheads: the road warriors are coming!

Yeah…I probably would’ve gone for the concert over the trucks too.

I am a Giants fan, but at this point, “let’s go anybody but New England”!

@runner jon: I think im a lot biased as a season ticket holder (go family hand me down tickets) but I think it would be a top 5 NY story at the very least.

So who here thinks that the Giants are gunna be able to get to the favre? Took a while against Dallas last week and if it takes that long this week that may spell big trouble.

Phil, just wondering but what does a regular day of training look like for you? I understand what football training is about but never really played baseball. (lol clearly not at the pro level) As in do you do a lot of weight training/ running/ agility/ throwing drills?

Packers by 3 over Giants and Pats by 24 over the Bolts. 2 hours to go!

I second that emotion.

Lets go Chargers and Yankees.

omg I love Little Big Town. That is awesome.

Hopefully the Giants win today!

14-9 Pats at the half. I have a deep hatred for the Pats (it must stem from the Sox). San Diego’s defense is impressive at this point. They’re getting a pass rush on Brady and the secondary is defending well. The Chargers have to find a way to turn field goals into touchdowns in the second half if they want to win. They can’t really afford to be playing from behind in the 4th. Here’s hoping your pick is right Phil.

Ugh this game is making me sick!! If the Bolts would have scored td’s instead they would have had the game well in hand!! The pats don’t look better!! 😦

I am glad you had a good time Phil. I told you it would not be as bad as you thought. Did anyone recognize you at the concert and ask for an autograph?

Phil Phil Phil … Country music???? Ooooofaaaaa. You always got to choose the manly monster trucks over country music. I think that’s going to cost one extra win next season on my expectation for you. 🙂

WOW…..what a game!

Well Phil, 1 outta 2 ain’t bad…lol

Glad to hear you enjoyed the concert!

So Phil..1 for 2 isn’t too bad. Who’s your pick for the SB??? Hopefully Giants …especially if you want to keep the New York fans on your side ..lol. If the Giants win the SB and the Yankees win the WS those Sox fans will have to be quiet for a little while. PLEASE LORD !!!

I’m happy you enjoyed the show …but….if you are going country I think you would much prefer Shania Twain (wink). Even if you don’t like the singing she’s easy on the eyes …or so my “male” friend says…

I’m going to an autograph show in NJ this upcoming weekend…Yankee Pride Show commerating the 1998 Yankees and will be seeing one of my favs (the Mick was my all time fav)…Paul O’Neill. He’ll be signing his book for me …can’t wait. If anyone else is interested it’s in Secaucus and you can go to the following site for more info. The new Hall of Famer Goose will be there too.

from gary myers in todays daily news:

In the long and bitter rivalry of New York and Boston sports, the Giants stopping the Patriots from a perfect season would be the most incredible accomplishment yet, topping the Red Sox coming back from a 3-0 deficit to the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS.

Well…at least you had good seats…

You got one of your picks right (and as a NYer, it was the right one). With the Celtics, Pats and Sox, New Englanders are getting insufferable. It’s the same as any fanbase, actually, that has everything fall its way. Hopefully New Yorkers and Yankee fans will be insufferable in 2008. 😉 And hopefully you’ll be part of the celebration.

On a completely random note, I think it’s kind of insane that the largest concentration of visitors on your site aren’t New Yorkers (or even Americans), but Chinese. That’s hardcore. Isn’t all of this attention and fishbowl kind of a mind-job? I’m glad you’re staying grounded in the face of all us crazy people wanting to know more about you.

Thank you, a lot, for posting. Your days are busy and life is complicated, yet you take the time to interact with fans. This is beyond charity in a way (something I assume you do and will do over the course of your professional career) because we don’t really need your time, but you’re giving part of it to us (and not to wallow in your own fame). It’s one of the coolest, and most honorable, things a professional athlete can do.

I THINK I READ THAT PHIL WAS A RED SOX FAN GROWING UP. BUT MAYBE THAT WAS PAVANO.

Phil was a red sox fan growing up. HIs father was from the NE area. No big deal.

Supposedly Pavano was a Yankee fan growing up.

I’m more of a rock n roll guy than country, but i made it out to see George when he came to little rock. obviously i left early to watch the end of the patriots/jaguars game (haha), but it was still a hell of a show.
