That is awesome!! What an amazing experience. Did you understand what I said before about feeling the race in your chest? It is one of the coolest feelings. NHRA Drag Racing is like that too.
Not sure if anybody else has mentioned this before, but Shelley Duncan looks a lot like Matthew Lillard, most known for being in Scream, also played Shaggy in Scooby Doo
Shelly looks like he wants to help out or take batting practice or something, its great to have young players again in the system bringing back excitement, do you speak spanish phil? i only ask because one guy that has been credited with bringing excitement back in the clubhouse was melky. how do yo get along with guys like melky and abreu?
Phil, first off, i’m the same dwalsh from your site. I whipped up this banner quickly, I know its not much, but I think it might be a little better than the bright cards up top.
Oh, and the banner is using pics I took, and I removed the yankees logos, so I’m pretty sure there is nothing you could possibly get in legal trouble for
Did you meet any other drivers there? What did you think about them? Any of them actually a Yankees’ fan? I think I, unfortunately, saw Jeff Gordon on tv at a BoSox game, but I do not remember if it was a yankees/bosox game, where he could have been going for the yankees. Probably not though.
You guys look like you had a great time! any pointers? This is my first trip to spring training and my first trip to the daytona 500 – wanna make sure and do it up right…. and you guys might want to invest in some clever costumes – captain wiley and I figure this will probably be the last time you guys can just walk amongst the lamen folk without a mob!!!
Looks like you guys had a blast!!
Shelley looks like such a fun guy to hang out with.
Thanks for sharing your pics…its always nice to see what you guys do off of the field!
Shelley is quite the personality! I can just imagine what a time you all must have had. And while we’re on the topic of look-alikes and Shelley looking like Matthew Lillard; everytime I see Jeter I always think he could bust out singing “Hound Dog” because if he never got into baseball he could have had a career in Elvis impersonating! LOL
“Phil, first off, i’m the same dwalsh from your site. I whipped up this banner quickly, I know its not much, but I think it might be a little better than the bright cards up top.
Matthew Hilliard beat you out because he did Scream and Scooby Doo? Was the demographic teen aged girls and stoners?
It was a high school poll, after all…:P Plus, isn’t Matthew Lillard also famous for She’s All That? Or is that my lame movie choices making me look really, really awful?
Okay, actually, Phil, forget that I ever posted that. Ever. Also, you’ll definitely win next year. C’mon, you’re way cooler than Matt Lillard. You’re a starting pitcher for the most famous team in the most awesome city in the whole world.
Phil,
Did you get any pictures w/ Mikey Waltrip?? I caught qualifying on TV Sunday & saw he got 2nd to the poll w/ Jimmy Johnson. Thats kinda neat.
Thanks for the pics.
After seeing some of those pics of Shelley, the WWE should contract with him in the offseason for a few wrestling shows. The mighty forearm smash as his finishing move and the 1-2-3 for the win. He has some serious energy….
Thanks for the photos Phil, seems like a good time. My sister lives down there now for school, it’s a pretty cool town. I think im going to have to parrot everybody else and say Shelly is the man and im more and more becoming a fan. It’s really cool to see you guys in real life, although I guess that might be creepy lol
Football training camp always used to suck so hard, especially in college because it was a month long, do you guys dread spring training? or is it not that big a deal for you guys?
Hah! Tell Shelley we love him. You guys look like you had tons of fun. I keep thinking though what a party, or anything for that matter it like, when both Joba AND Shelley are there together. HAHA. Personality!!
I was looking out for Ian, Shelley, and you during the Bud Shootout, but I didn’t see anything. (Huge NASCAR fan right here!) Looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Shelley looks like he is clearly enjoying himself. =)
Phil, you hanging out with Shelley so much has got me nervous. Whatever you do, DON’T high-five him. His high-fives should be studied on that show “Sports Science” to determine the equivalent of force in relation to the mph it takes a semi to smash into a brick wall….or maybe in this case, a Nascar vehicle.
Phil – this is all great stuff. You being so “out there” with Ian and Shelley. I would love to see you guys keep it up as your success grows…and it will grow.
This has nothing to do with this post, but I just wanted to say good luck today with the “official” start of Spring Training! It’s going to be a GREAT season, with alot to look forward to!!!
We are starting a petition to have a George Steinbrenner Day at the stadium and a plaque put in Monument Park. We think it would be great to be able to show GMS our appreciation while he’s still around.
If you would put up a post about it along with the link to the petition we would appreciate it!
Since you had a good time in Daytona, I thought you might like the following. I’m an Illustrator, and I just finished a comic book story about the first Daytona 500. If you dig cars and racing, you might find it interesting. Here’s the link to my blog: http://richfaber.blogspot.com/
Oh, and I’ve also done a bunch of Yankees illustrations, which are on my website: http://www.richfaber.com. Let me know if you ever want a portrait done!
Good luck this season! I’m really happy you’re still a Yankee! Looking forward to seeing you pitch all season!
i’ve been watching Yankees Magazine and see how the new statium is coming along and it looks great!! i cant wait till it opens. im also glad they are not jacking up ticket prices. i see you said that there might be a place for your ipod in the lockers which is awsome!! nice pictures by the way! looks like fun. Happy Spring Training!! i already got tickets to a couple regular season games. can’t wait.
Hey Phil, is Shelley amped up and hyper like that all the time?
wheres pictures with phil?! haha looks like you had a great time n does shelley always have that engery with him? haha
Yea Shelley is usually pretty amped up.
That is awesome!! What an amazing experience. Did you understand what I said before about feeling the race in your chest? It is one of the coolest feelings. NHRA Drag Racing is like that too.
Wow sounds you guys had a great time. And you’re really cool for sharing that with us.
Not sure if anybody else has mentioned this before, but Shelley Duncan looks a lot like Matthew Lillard, most known for being in Scream, also played Shaggy in Scooby Doo
You, Ian, Shelley, and Melky are seriously the coolest people on the Yanks
Matthew Lillard went to my high school actually. Beat me out last year for most famous Foothillian. Damn!
I bet you win the next one tho Phil
Shelley always looks so excited. I think he would have a big grin on his face even if he was about to go to the Dentist to have a tooth pulled!
You are a YANKEE afterall. WAY better than making a few Movies. Altho, I loved him in Hackers
haha…you will DEFINITELY beat him out next time, Phil.
Phil,
Does Shelley ever have a bad day ? Must make playing with him quite exciting as he never seems “down”.
Phil, if you ever played Shelley in COD or Halo… you better have a spare controller if he loses as his may not live til tomorrow
Matthew Hilliard beat you out because he did Scream and Scooby Doo? Was the demographic teen aged girls and stoners?
http://respectjetersgangster.blogspot.com
Looks like a good time down there. Shelley looks hyper and excited as usual.

Can I just say I love Shelley Duncan? Because I do. It really makes me happy that you guys are Yankees. Wouldn’t ever want it any other way.
Shelly looks like he wants to help out or take batting practice or something, its great to have young players again in the system bringing back excitement, do you speak spanish phil? i only ask because one guy that has been credited with bringing excitement back in the clubhouse was melky. how do yo get along with guys like melky and abreu?
NASCAR events are incredibly loud as far as I know. It must have been even louder where you were.
I’m curious Mr. Hughes, what did you have to give Sean Henn to get number 34?
A steak dinner?
Phil, first off, i’m the same dwalsh from your site. I whipped up this banner quickly, I know its not much, but I think it might be a little better than the bright cards up top.
http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/6945/bannerem9.jpg
HAHA. he does look a lot like Lillard. Phil you thinking of going to the superbowl next year across from Legends field?
Oh, and the banner is using pics I took, and I removed the yankees logos, so I’m pretty sure there is nothing you could possibly get in legal trouble for
…except he is number 34 now
your point? It’s not like I have any pics of him in a 34 jersey lying around…
Thats awesome.
Very cool, when isn’t Shelley excited?
Phil…who are the guys on the team that you hang out with the most? Ian? Shelley?
Hey Phil
Porn Star Eva Angelina graduated the year before you, what place did she come in? And do you know her well? And if you do.. how well? Hahaha
Shelly looks way too happy LOL.
Nice to see that you guys ARE HUMAN, not just stars.
-Dunkaroos
Question…
How long have you been friends with Ian, Shelley, etc?
ian looks like mussina and shelly looks like a psycho mass murder, but a nice one.
hey phil, glad you liked daytona. my wife scored free tickets last year to it, was so happy. so i know how excited you were, lol.
Looks like you guys had a blast!!
Shelley looks like such a fun guy to hang out with.
Thanks for sharing your pics…its always nice to see what you guys do off of the field!
matt lillard’s best movie gotta be slc punk hands down
Shelley always seems to be excited.
Really really cool, did you get a chance to get into one of them? Or ride with some one or any thing?
Shelley is quite the personality! I can just imagine what a time you all must have had. And while we’re on the topic of look-alikes and Shelley looking like Matthew Lillard; everytime I see Jeter I always think he could bust out singing “Hound Dog” because if he never got into baseball he could have had a career in Elvis impersonating! LOL
“Was the demographic teen aged girls and stoners?”
Wow….LOL…thats my comment of the day.
I cant imagine how he would win that contest. I guess movies>sports for a lot of people.
“Phil, first off, i’m the same dwalsh from your site. I whipped up this banner quickly, I know its not much, but I think it might be a little better than the bright cards up top.

PS—thats pretty damn good.
Phil, congratulations on your blog is very informative and entertaining. From Caracas, Venezuela. Say hi to abreu for me..
It was a high school poll, after all…:P Plus, isn’t Matthew Lillard also famous for She’s All That? Or is that my lame movie choices making me look really, really awful?
Okay, actually, Phil, forget that I ever posted that. Ever. Also, you’ll definitely win next year.

Thanks for sharing them, Phil.
Shelley looks always so cheerful.
Shelley looks HUGE! He’s obviously been working hard.
Phil,
Did you get any pictures w/ Mikey Waltrip?? I caught qualifying on TV Sunday & saw he got 2nd to the poll w/ Jimmy Johnson. Thats kinda neat.

I LOVE Shelley. Please tell him to keep riding the subway with us. It was AWESOME last year.
He’s a riot. (insert Cartman voice here) “I love you guys.”
That looked like it was alotta fun

So, apparently, when you told us you were going to Daytona you actually meant “going to Daytona, front row, VIP”.
Dang.
Anyway, enjoy the (unofficial) last day of winter =)
Looks like fun. Enjoy Florida, it’s kinda crappy up here so spring training pictures will be a warm welcome in the next few days.
Hah! Tell Shelley we love him. You guys look like you had tons of fun. I keep thinking though what a party, or anything for that matter it like, when both Joba AND Shelley are there together. HAHA. Personality!!
You gotta love the energy from Shelley! Dude is loco. It’s so much fun watching him after someone hits a dinger.
And Phil, Lillard has nothing on you.
JBoog
Cool pic Phil, have you ever checked out the Everglades down there? Pretty amazing, I’d suggest it if you like nature.
I’m not a big fan of nascar, but from those pictures, looks like you guys had a great time. Did Shelley forearm any drivers or pit crew members?
http://aroundthemajors.blogspot.com/
JUST LIVIN’ THE DREAM! ! !
you guys were right there! front row seats! shelley looks so freakin happy! funny
Hey Phil!
New time commenter on your blog.

Phil, the photos especially the last one of Shelley made me smile, despite having bronchitis. Thanks a lot!
