Hi Ian,
Alot of comparisons are being made to you with a young Mike Mussina. Do you think that accurate? If yes did you follow him throughout the years & have you modeled yourself after his style?
Ian, besides NYC, what has been your favorite city to travel to for baseball? why? Also, what ballpark(s) are you looking forward to playing in, that you haven’t had the opportunity to already?
Ian, what was the first REALLY cool experience you had as a Yankee? 1st Thoughts your first time entering Yankee Stadium in general and your first apperance in a game?
hey ian,
what’s your favorite television show? (on a side note, my bday is 12/18/84, 1 day before yours…had to give a shout out to the lucky ones born in dec of 1984)
We are starting a petition to have a George Steinbrenner Day at the stadium and a plaque put in Monument Park. We think it would be great to be able to show GMS our appreciation while he’s still around.
Ian, what’s the benefit of throwing the “vulcan” changeup instead of the normal changeups (circle and straight grips)? more downward movement? it is a comfort thing?
Hi Ian-
Thats really cool from you to do this for the fans and for Phil,
1) why did you swap numbers with ramirez?
2)whats your goal and our views for the season
3)which playerdo you like to hang out?
4)which veteran did you learn the most?
Thanks for sharing your time!
What is the person you want to get a “K” on the worst in MLB? Who is the biggest challenge you have faced in your career? If you had to pitch in 1 pressure situation, what would you want it to be and why?
Since Phil seems to be such a huge fan of “The Office” do you have a favourite character? Oh and you should donate some autographed balls for some of Phils Contests
Do you guys have a specific charity or organization you work with? If not, there is one that helps troops with care packages, their families here with financial and moral support and also with the VA Hospitals.
http://www.soldiersangels.org It was started by the mother of a soldier a time back and has grown tremendously. I am sure if you or anyone else wanted to help in even the smallest way they would be appreciative.
This is not meant so spam their charity, but since you guys are young and very fan orientated, I know some soldiers are HUGE Yankees fans and would love even a post-it note from a Yankees star
Phil tells us he is thinking about having the S&M version of “For Whom The Bell Tolls” as his walk on song. Have you given any thought to what yours might be?
What is the one thing you’re most excited about and the one thing you’re fearing the most this upcoming season?
What’s something you’re into or a fan of that you are embarassed to admit to?
In your short time up in the Majors last year, which veteran did you either learn the most from and/or attach the most to?
What are your personal goals for this season?
How good was the dinner Phil took you out to get your number?
I’m betting you won’t answer this, but who do you like throwing to, Posada or Molina? Why?
As a pitcher who values his hands and arms, does it terrify you to shake hands with (or for that matter, go near) Shelley Duncan when he’s excited?
What’re you main thoughts and goals heading in the Spring Training? Anything you’re really trying to focus on with you pitching?
This is not baseball related but what is your all time favorite movie?
Do you feel like celebrities yet?
It looks like your style is similar to that of M Mussina. Whats it like for you to be able to work with him “hands on”?
Hi Ian,

How do you feel about the intense media coverage that comes with playing in a large-market city like New York?
How does Phil convince you to take 5 questions?
Yeah….I still feel excited.
Hey Ian. Like Phil, what made you change your number from 36 to 31? Any story or meaning behind 31?
Matt in Toronto.
1. Do you have any pre-game routines/superstitions? Which teammate has the most unusual pre-game routine?

In batting practice, who hits the ball better, you or Phil?

Did you look up to Mike Mussina in particular?
